Following a difficult time at Barcelona, Andre Gomes appeared to get his career back on track in his first season on Merseyside.

The Portugal international appeared to silence the doubters with some impressive displays in midfield for Marco Silva’s side, and it was understandable when Everton splashed out £22m to sign him on a permanent deal.

Whilst last season was a relative success, his performance against Aston Villa on Friday night certainly brought up bad memories of his days in Barcelona.

The 26-year-old had a nightmare game against Dean Smith’s men, averaging a measly 79.5% pass accuracy and being dispossessed twice.

The former Valencia star also suffered the ignominy of being caught out by a quick free-kick for Villa’s opening goal, and never really recovered after that.

After seeing Gomes’s woeful performance, Everton fans took to Twitter to voice their concerns about the midfielder.

Many supporters of the Merseyside club slammed the Portuguese ace and one questioned why he simply wasn’t taken off at half-time by Silva.

Indeed, another fan suggested the Toffees had been “ripped off” by Barcelona based on the 6 foot 2 star’s performance.

وتابع: “أسماء الأندية كانت كبيرة للغاية لطفل يبلغ من العمر 15 عامًا فقط، لكني اعتقدت وقتها أن فينورد هو النادي المناسب لي كلاعب”.

وأضاف: “كان من الصعب للغاية أن أرفض عرضًا من ليفربول، فكرت في المغامرة لكنني قررت اختيار مسار أكثر أمانًا نسبيًا”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “اعتقد أن القوة البدنية التي تتمتع بها بطولة مثل الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز ستنسابني جدًا، وستكون الأفضل للانتقال إلى ليفربول بالطبع”.

وأتم: “لا اعتقد أنني سأرفض ليفربول إذا جاء عرضًا مرة أخرى، لكنني في الوقت الحالي، أركز مع بريدا بشكل كامل وأتمنى أن ألعب مباراة مع الفريق في حضور الجماهير”.

After all the controversy surrounding his off-the-pitch antics, it’s fair to say Jesse Lingard hasn’t exactly enjoyed the greatest of summers.

The Manchester United star has come under fire in recent weeks and months for his social media use and lack of focus on football, and on Monday night against Wolves, he did nothing to silence the doubters.

The England international was virtually anonymous in the entire game, registering zero shots and zero dribbles. The 26-year-old was promptly hooked in the second-half for veteran ace Juan Mata, and the ineffective display saw United fans flood to Twitter to voice their discontent.

Many supporters of the Manchester side urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make Lingard’s game against Wolves his last for the club, and slammed the performance as “absolutely horrendous”.

Indeed, some questioned why the midfielder is still at Old Trafford at all, and demanded the club sell him before the end of the transfer window in Europe.

في البداية ما رأيك في صفقة مصطفى محمد وانتقاله إلى جالطة سراي؟

– “مصطفى محمد خيار رائع للغاية في الهجوم وهذا ما أثبته خلال المباراتين الماضيتين مع جالطة سراي، يتميز بالضربات الرأسية ويجيد التحرك والتمركز داخل منطقة الجزاء، واعتبره مهاجمًا مشاكًا للمدافعين”.

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to social media to lavish praise on Roberto Firmino, who celebrated his four-year anniversary at the club on Monday.

Indeed, it was on June 24 back in 2015 that Liverpool signed the forward from Hoffenheim, with the Reds paying in the region of £29m for his services.

The 27-year-old – currently in action for Brazil at the 2019 Copa America – has scored 66 goals and registered 47 assists in 192 games for the Merseyside giants.

Last term, the attacker scored 16 times as Liverpool won the Champions League in addition to finishing second in the Premier League table.

Alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the final third, Firmino played a key role in the success that Jurgen Klopp’s side enjoyed throughout 2018/19.

And many of the Liverpool supporters have been keen to pay tribute to the South American for his contribution over the last four years.

Dwight Gayle’s future has been far from certain after his loan deal with West Brom came to an end but one thing that did look certain was that he wouldn’t be returning to Albion.

Express & Star claimed in May that due to financial reasons they wouldn’t be able to bring him back. However, The Daily Mail claimed last weekend that the Baggies were still keen on a deal if Salomon Rondon heads back to Newcastle.

Yet, journalist Matt Wilson has since quashed talks of him returning, suggesting nothing has changed since last month.

Reacting to the news, West Brom fans were incredibly upset at the development as one called the club useless. Another supporter claimed that this was the reality of the situation facing Albion.

A further fan said that not bringing Gayle back would haunt them whilst another tweet hoped he’d take a wage drop in order to return.

The forward was in brilliant form for the Baggies last term, ending the campaign as their top scorer on 24 goals.

But despite his impressive season, it looks as though West Brom will now have to look elsewhere for a striker.

Having been without a truly quality holding midfield player since Gilberto Silva, Arsenal fans were understandably excited when Lucas Torreira signed from Sampdoria in a £26m deal last summer.

The Uruguay international was impressive in his time in Italy, and showcased his heart and desire during his country’s run to the quarter-finals of the World Cup last year.

Despite having an impressive debut campaign in north London, an interview with Uruguayan outlet Ovacion (via the Evening Standard) saw him admit that he had found it difficult to adapt to his new surroundings and acknowledged that Italy was far more comfortable for him than England.

After hearing the 23-year-old’s comments, some Gunners fans took to Twitter to voice their frustrations and were seemingly angry that one of their star players was publicly revealing his unhappiness at the club.

Following Torreira’s admission that he struggled to communicate with his teammates throughout the season, many Arsenal supporters blamed the Uruguayan for not taking the time to learn the language and questioned what he expected by moving to an English-speaking country.

Indeed, with reports in recent days suggesting that Serie A giants Milan are considering taking Torreira back to more familiar surroundings in Italy, some fans on Twitter suggested that the Gunners might be wise to cash in on the midfielder this summer if they can get big-money for him.

With the Europa League just days away, Arsenal fans are preparing not just for the biggest game of their season, but also the most important transfer window in a while.

No matter the outcome in Baku, the Gunners are in desperate need of improvement this summer, with a leaky defence all but costing Unai Emery’s side Champions League football via a top-four spot in the Premier League and a lack of depth in certain positions resulting in the Spaniard having to adapt on the fly with what he has to work with.

Arsenal have been linked with a plethora of defenders from different teams with different playing styles already, and one name to jump out of late is Sampdoria centre-back Joachim Andersen.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via the Metro, the Gunners have the Danish defender on their radar this summer after Andersen’s breakout season in Serie A with I Blucerchiati, starting 32 league games and attracting interest all over Europe, namely Tottenham.

The 22-year-old defender, who is valued at £18 million on Transfermarkt, would be a sensible signing for the Gunners. At such a young age and a full season of professional football already under his belt, Andersen is comfortable enough on the ball and in defence to make the leap from Italy to the Premier League.

Andersen is the latest defender to flourish at Sampdoria, the last one being Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar, and with a valuation that fits Arsenal’s budget restraints, the Danish international would be a smart acquisition for the Gunners that will make fans forget about the horror show that is Shkodran Mustafi.

Arsenal were inches away from a top-four finish this season, and in Andersen, the Gunners will be defensively more secure for next year and could all but secure Champions League football with the Dane in their team.

Charlton Athletic announced on their official Twitter account on Monday that the club had sold more than 30,000 tickets for their League One play-off final clash against Sunderland at Wembley on Sunday, and Addicks fans were quick to react.

The south London outfit reached the showpiece on penalties following a 4-4 draw on aggregate with Doncaster Rovers at the semi-final stage, with Dillon Phillips the hero between the sticks for Lee Bowyer’s men.

Now Athletic will face a side looking to bounce back up to the Championship at the first attempt in the Mackems, who limped across the line in the end with their run-in bringing plenty of draws and defeats.

According to El Gol Digital, Leeds United are considering a summer move for Real Sociedad midfielder Ruben Pardo.

What’s the word, then?

Leeds are currently second in the Championship table, four points off leaders Norwich City and three points ahead of third-placed Sheffield United.

The Whites are very much in the mix for automatic promotion and will be desperate to secure a return to the Premier League for the 2019-2020 campaign.

If that is the case then it will be very, very busy summer window for the club.

Leeds have a lot of pulling power as it is, but earning promotion to the Premier League would open up a whole new level of players.

According to El Gol Digital, Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa is keen to bring Pardo to Elland Road in this summer’s transfer window.

And the 26-year-old would be a wonderful signing for the club.

What are Pardo’s credentials?

Pardo came through the youth system at Sociedad and has made 187 appearances for the Basque outfit in all competitions.

An incredibly experienced midfielder, Pardo has made 174 La Liga appearances during his time with both Sociedad and Real Betis.

He has not been capped at senior level by Spain, but turned out on seven occasions for the nation’s Under-21 side.

It is unlikely that Leeds would have to break the bank for the midfielder, who would be the perfect summer arrival for the Whites due to his skill set. Pardo is no slouch, but it is his technical quality that would improve Leeds so much.

Bielsa will be aware that signings will be needed if Leeds are to compete in the Premier League next season and Pardo would be a fine summer addition.
