“Foi um timing. O futebol é timing. Não pude ir por causa do regulamento e a gente tem que respeitar. Fiquei muito feliz e lisonjeado. […] Mas não fico me amargurando. […] Estou muito feliz. A oportunidade aparece para quem é competente e trabalha”, falou Zanardi em entrevista para a ESPN Brasil.

Após quase estar do lado rival, o foco do comandante aurinegro é vencer novamente em casa, como no Paulistão, e garantir a classificação para a 3ª fase da competição nacional: “O peso da torcida faz diferença, mas nós já ganhamos do São Paulo com 50 mil pessoas. É um jogo só e isso te dá a vantagem de jogar de igual para igual. Nós não estamos no nível do time grande, mas a gente vai fazer um jogo, propor o jogo e competir demais”.

تحدث بيب جوارديولا، مدرب مانشستر سيتي في أعقاب فوز فريقه على ريال مدريد ببطولة دوري أبطال أوروبا، حيث حقق الفوز بهدفين لهدف.

والتقى الفريقان على ملعب “سانتياجو برنابيو” ضمن مباريات الجولة السادسة لمرحلة الدوري بدوري أبطال أوروبا، ونشرت شبكة “بي بي سي” البريطانية، والموقع الرسمي لليويفا، تصريحات جوارديولا.

وقال جوارديولا: “في كل مرة كانت الكرة بحوزتهم، عاقبونا، وخاصةً مع رودريجو، لم نتمكن من الدخول في أجواء المباراة حتى جاء الهدف، بالنسبة للعديد من لاعبي فريقي، كانت هذه هي المرة الأولى التي نأتي فيها إلى هذا الملعب، ربما يكون هذا في صالحنا؛ ربما نكون في فبراير أكثر استعدادًا بفضل هذه التجربة”.

وأضاف: “كان ريال مدريد أفضل منا بكثير في بعض المراحل؛ كنا نركض باستمرار، لكننا كنا نتأخر في كثير من الأحيان في استغلال الفرص، لكننا سنتعلم من أخطائنا، سنتحسن في الظروف الاستثنائية”.

وأردف مدرب مانشستر سيتي: “لقد تعاملنا مع مباراتي سندرلاند وفولهام بشكل مختلف تماماً، لكن هذا هو أسلوب ريال مدريد المعتاد، ملعبهم يعشق مثل هذه المباريات”.

وتابع بيب حديثه: “أدرك الواقع، وأنا سعيد بهذه النتيجة، لكنني أعلم أن علينا تقديم أداء أفضل بكثير، التعامل مع مثل هذه المواقف سيجعلنا أقوى، نيكو هو الظهير الأيسر للمنتخب الوطني، ويتمتع بسرعة فائقة، إنه لاعب من طراز رفيع”.

واسنطرد: “راضٍ تمامًا بشكل عام، لدينا ثلاثة عشر نقطة مع تبقي مباراتين، بإمكاننا إنهاء الموسم ضمن المراكز الثمانية الأولى، هذا هو هدفنا، والفوز هنا بعد مباراة ليفركوزن أمر جيد”.

وأشار: “يجب أن أكون ممتنًا وسعيدًا، خضتُ العديد من المباريات هنا على مر السنين أمام ريال مدريد، ولعبتُ بشكل أفضل بكثير، لكننا لم نفز، أتيحت لنا فرصٌ لتسجيل المزيد من الأهداف، وبذلنا جهدًا أكبر، في الشوط الثاني، لكن قبل ذلك كانوا أفضل منا بكثير”.

وعلّق جوارديولا: “كان ماتيوس نونيز جيدًا، الظهيران، ريان شرقي يلعب هنا لأول مرة، نيكو أوريلي قدم أداءً مذهلاً، جيريمي دوكو ساعدنا كثيرًا في جوانب عديدة، بدأنا المباراة بخطأ، لكنني كنت أتوقع منهم الضغط أكثر، لكنهم تراجعوا، ووجدنا صعوبة في مواجهتهم، لكننا تقبلنا النتيجة”.

وواصل: “يمتلك ريال مدريد لاعبين سريعين في العمق؛ والهجمات المرتدة قد تحسم المباراة، لكنهم يتمتعون بجودةٍ مذهلة، ويرسلون العديد من اللاعبين إلى منطقة الجزاء، رودرجو، فينيسيوس، بيلينحهام، لاعبون رائعون، سرعة هجومهم خطيرة للغاية، ولهذا السبب لا يمكنك البقاء في منطقة الجزاء، بل عليك الالتزام بالدفاع، افتقرنا لبعض الجوانب، لذا يمكننا التحسن”.

وعن لاعبه إيرلينج هالاند، أشاد: “أرقامه تتحدث عن نفسها، علينا أن نجعله أكثر فاعلية، يجب أن يكون جزءًا من المباراة، في المباراتين الأخيرتين لم يكن حاضرًا، لذا علينا إيجاد طريقة لإشراكه بشكل أكبر”.

وإذا كان هذا الفوز يعزز الثقة للفوز بدوري أبطال أوروبا، اختتم: “لا تسيئوا فهمي؛ الفوز هنا أمر صعب للغاية، لقد أعجبت بروحهم وإصرارهم اليوم، ولكن لكي يفوز فريقي في نصف النهائي أو النهائي، ولكي نلعب ونفوز في باريس أو أنفيلد أو برشلونة، علينا أن نكون أفضل بكثير”.

E Johan Cruyff, eterno camisa 14 da Holanda, será o homenageado em alusão ao número do evento. Além disso, o festival vai celebrar o cineasta Pedro Asbeg, as pioneiras do futebol feminino no Brasil e o centenário dos Camisas Negras e da Resposta Histórica, que fizeram história no Vasco com sua luta antirracista. A abertura ficará por conta da projeção de “Doval: o gringo mais carioca do futebol” e o encerramento será feito com a exibição de “A turma do Maestro Júnior”.

A programação do Cinefoot mantém o perfil de pluralidade e diversidade, abrigando os mais variados olhares sobre o futebol presentes em produções vindas de diversos países. Na sua edição número 14, o CINEFOOT vai destacar o legado e a genialidade do maior camisa 14 de todos os tempos: Johan Cruyjff.

Com apoio do Consulado Geral do Reino dos Países Baixos no Rio de Janeiro, o CINEFOOT leva ao público o filme “A ÚLTIMA PARTIDA”, Direção de Jordi Marcos, que conta com depoimentos de Josep Guardiola, Xavi Hernandez, Jordi Cruyff, Josep Carreras, dentre outros protagonistas que vivenciaram a era Cruyff.

PEDRO ASBEG
Pela sua trajetória com mais de 25 anos de experiência na produção audiovisual e atuação destacada no campo do cinema futeboleiro, Pedro Asbeg recebe a “Honraria Futebol Arte” do CINEFOOT 14.

Diretor e editor de um seleto conjunto de documentários, Pedro Asbeg é formado pela University of Westminster de Londres, tendo já colaborado em conteúdos para Netflix, HBO, Globoplay, Canal Brasil, ESPN, GNT, Multishow, Space e Al Jazeera, entre outros canais e plataformas.

É multicampeão do CINEFOOT, recebendo a láurea máxima do festival em três edições. Dentre seus filmes sobre futebol estão filmes como “DEMOCRACIA EM PRETO E BRANCO”, “GERALDINOS”, “DOGÃO CALABRESA”, “UNIDO VENCERÁS”, “SOM DAS TORCIDAS”, “O DEUS DA RAÇA”, “CARTA AO MAGRÃO”, “ONDE ESTIVER, ESTAREI” e, mais recentemente, “O NINHO: FUTEBOL E TRAGÉDIA”.

LUCY ALVES
Lucy Alves integra a galeria das pioneiras do futebol feminino no Brasil, marcando presença na primeira Seleção Brasileira, que disputou o Torneio Mundial Experimental da FIFA, em 1988, na China. Lucy foi a primeira jogadora brasileira jogar no exterior, radicando-se na Itália.

Para homenagear Lucy Alves, que receberá a “Honraria Gol de Placa”, será exibido o documentário italiano “LUCY – O DESTINO DE UMA PIONEIRA”, com Direção de Roberto Pili.

A resiliência, história e luta das pioneiras do futebol feminino brasileiro, modalidade proibida por mais de quatro décadas no Brasil, ganham foco na homenagem do CINEFOOT-14. Estas desbravadoras marcam presença na sessão especial dedicada a elas para receber a “Honraria Gol de Placa”, com a exibição de “AS PRIMEIRAS”, Direção de Adriana Yañez.

O documentário retrata a vida destas mulheres que vivem nos subúrbios do Rio de Janeiro, estão perto dos 60 anos e guardam um passado comum: são a base da primeira seleção feminina de futebol do Brasil.

ROBERTO DINAMITE, CAMISAS NEGRAS, RESPOSTA HISTÓRICA
Ao longo da sua história centenária, o C.R.Vasco da Gama sagrou-se campeão em várias jornadas. Porém, as conquistas obtidas além das quatro linhas da disputa futebolística, são glórias consagradas pela contribuição à sociedade e merecem o devido reconhecimento.

Em 1923, o lendário time dos CAMISAS NEGRAS fez história conquistando o primeiro título estadual do C.R.Vasco da Gama. O time composto por negros, operários e suburbanos, alcança a glória derrotando todo o cenário adverso imposto pelos clubes rivais.

Já em 1924, a RESPOSTA HISTÓRICA, documento no qual o C.R.Vasco da Gama comunica que se recusaria a disputar a divisão principal do Rio de Janeiro sem seus jogadores negros, exigência que havia sido imposta pelos dirigentes da época, reafirma o papel do cruzmaltino na luta contra o racismo no esporte brasileiro.

Roberto Dinamite, ídolo eterno do C.R.Vasco da Gama, será homenageado nesta sessão, na qual serão exibidos os filmes “CAMISAS NEGRAS UMA JORNADA HISTÓRICA”, Coordenação de Thais Vieira, “A FORÇA DO GIGANTE”, Direção de Marco Antonio Rocha, além de um vídeo-homenagem do Museu da Pelada ao ídolo Roberto Dinamite.

Lord Ian Botham, Durham’s honorary president, has slammed his former club Somerset for preparing an “appalling” pitch after 35 wickets fell in five sessions in the County Championship fixture between the two sides.Botham, the legendary England allrounder, spent most of his professional career with Somerset and was a key part of the club’s one-day success in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Botham said that the pitch underlined why England have largely opted to ignore county averages in selection in recent years. “These are not first-class cricket conditions in midsummer,” he wrote. “I am not surprised that Rob [Key] and Ben [Stokes] unfortunately have to disregard county performance in assessing players for Test quality appearances.”He also said that the pitch undermined Somerset’s opposition to a proposed cut in the number of Championship fixtures per team from 14 to 12, which Durham support: “At a time when County Cricket is under pressure for relevance as a breeding ground for International Players and Somerset members have apparently voted for the status quo, the club produces this pitch.”Kerr, the Somerset coach, told the ECB Reporters Network: “There has been a lot of noise surrounding the pitch, but I thought it was an incredible surface. As Manchester United midfielder Casemiro strolled off the field on Saturday evening on the 70-minute mark, there was a customary embrace from a delighted Ruben Amorim. The veteran Brazilian had done his job.

It said a lot of the 33-year-old’s renewed importance to the Red Devils that his withdrawal was then followed by something of a late collapse from his side across the remaining 20 minutes or so, with the hosts looking all at sea against the Seagulls in the closing stages.

Thankfully, a thumping finish from Bryan Mbeumo at the death helped to secure a third successive victory for the Old Trafford outfit, with Amorim left to reflect on what was largely another positive display from his resurgent side.

Key to that newfound success has been the quiet emergence of a strong spine in the United starting lineup, with Matthijs de Ligt now a firm fixture ahead of new man Senne Lammens in the sticks, while the likes of Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha are beginning to flourish at the top end of the pitch.

Holding it all together in the centre of the park, however, is talismanic skipper Bruno Fernandes, and the aforementioned Casemiro, with the latter man’s remarkable revival showing no signs of ending.

How Casemiro came back from the brink

For all the talk of Carlos Baleba and the need for a new midfielder over the summer, it was Casemiro and co who no doubt won the midfield battle last weekend, with the ex-Real Madrid icon popping up with a goal and an assist amid United’s first-half onslaught.

There was a sense that this was the £350k-per-week star back to his 2022/23 best, having memorably told his agent – prior to joining the club – that he would “fix it”, after witnessing the early-season dissection from Brentford.

The £70m outlay remains a contentious point, but it’s hard to argue with his impact in that debut campaign, with United’s Carabao Cup final scorer described as the “cement” in the side by a beaming Erik ten Hag that season.

Just over a year later, however, the infamous “leave the football, before the football leaves you” line from Jamie Carragher, amid a dismal display at Crystal Palace, was followed by his absence from the FA Cup final squad. The end looked nigh.

Even at the start of 2024/25, the five-time Champions League winner appeared to be tumbling even further, notably hooked at the break after making two notable errors in September 2024, at home to eventual champions Liverpool.

As Amorim has since stated, there was a time in his tenure that Casemiro was “even behind Toby [Collyer]” in the midfield pecking order, although he quietly emerged as a key figure in last season’s Europa League run.

Of course, who can forget his two assists for Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire at the death against Lyon, having cleverly won a penalty minutes earlier. Big players produce big moments.

Such momentum has continued this term, with United’s elder statesman scoring against Chelsea and now Brighton, while returning to training early from international break ahead of starting at Anfield.

A starter in seven league games this season, the midfield warrior is a key cog in Amorim’s machine again, having successfully made Carragher and co eat their words.

Considering his age, and his current contract status, however, his long-term future in Manchester is up for debate. Just who can replace him?

How Man Utd can replace Casemiro

Just a matter of months ago, the thought of extending Casemiro’s contract would have been unthinkable, with his current deal set to expire in June 2026.

While his status as the club’s highest earner still ensures an exit appears inevitable, keeping him around on reduced wages may be an option to consider, not least with Amorim hardly blessed with midfield depth.

Regardless of what does happen come next summer, a suitable long-term successor needs to be found, with recent reports suggesting that the likes of Jobe Bellingham could be targeted heading into 2026.

Back at Old Trafford, Amorim does already have another defensive-minded presence in the form of Manuel Ugarte, although might it be Mainoo who is the perfect Casemiro replacement in waiting?

Indeed, for all the talk of the Brazilian being a deep-lying, holding midfielder in Madrid, it is actually his attacking quality that has shone in recent years.

Be it his last-gasp header at Stamford Bridge, his Wembley opener in February 2023, or his stunner under Ruud van Nistelrooy against Leicester City, the one-time Porto man regularly delivers the goods in the final third.

In Mainoo then – a player lauded as a future “£100m-plus footballer” by United writer Alex Turk – Amorim should seemingly have a worthy successor, rather than attempting to mould the 20-year-old into Fernandes’ replacement instead.

Like Casemiro, the promising Englishman might not be the most mobile, but it is easy to imagine him taking on the role that his senior colleague had against Brighton, knitting things together nicely on the edge of the box, even when operating in a midfield two.

Of course, Mainoo’s own cameo left a lot to be desired, but that could be an impact of his limited involvement this term, having yet to start a league game in 2025/26.

When fit and firing, his quality was evident during his breakthrough 2023/24 season under Ten Hag, having been described as the Dutchman’s “best player” amid his stunning emergence.

Like Casemiro, Mainoo has shown his quality around the opposition penalty area, be it his dramatic winner at Molineux, or his curling efforts against both Liverpool and Lyon.

He may not cover the ground in the manner of Ugarte, but he has that silky quality in possession that belies his years, notably ranking in the top 12% of European midfielders for successful take-ons per 90, as per FBref.

It’s not as if he doesn’t possess a defensive instinct too, memorably clearing the ball off the line on his first Premier League start against Everton, while currently ranking in the top 23% for tackles made per 90.

Much like Casemiro too, a stunning start in the United first-team has since been followed by a real crash back down to earth, with his limited role under Amorim even sparking talk of a January exit in this vital World Cup year.

It is far too soon to write him off just yet, however, and having seen 2025 prove to be the year of Casemiro’s creditable comeback, why can’t 2026 be the same for Mainoo?

With the last international break of 2025 underway, it remains to be seen whether or not Martin O’Neill will be in charge of Celtic for their next competitive match.

Football Insider recently reported that the experienced manager could see his interim time in the dugout end if the club are able to land a new boss during the break.

The Northern Irish head coach, in his second stint at the club, has enjoyed an impressive time as the caretaker manager, winning three of his four matches in all competitions.

Celtic have won both of their Scottish Premiership games by a 4-0 scoreline since he came in after Brendan Rodgers tendered his resignation, beating Kilmarnock 4-0 on Sunday in what could be his last match.

O’Neill has been a breath of fresh air for the Scottish giants after the end of Rodgers’ tenure, as evidenced by the two league results, and he has worked wonders for a few players.

Johnny Kenny, for example, has stepped up under the experienced manager and shown that he can be relied on as a regular starter for the Hoops, if required.

The Celtic players who have improved under Martin O'Neill

The Ireland international is the most obvious player who has improved since O’Neill came in as a caretaker manager, as he has scored four goals in four matches, per Sofascore.

Kenny had scored two goals in 17 first-team matches for Celtic in all competitions before this run of four goals in four games under O’Neill, per Transfermarkt, which perfectly illustrates his recent improvement.

The 22-year-old marksman, who has stepped up in the absence of Kelechi Iheanacho, is not the only Hoops player who has taken their game up a gear under the interim boss, though, as Arne Engels has done the same.

Celtic’s Belgian midfield maestro did not provide a single goal or assist in eight appearances in the Premiership under Rodgers, in what was a dismal start to the campaign for the £11m signing from Augsburg.

Since O’Neil came in, though, the central midfielder has scored his first goal of the season and delivered two assists in all competitions, including a goal and an assist in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock.

As you can see in the table above, Auston Trusty has excelled under O’Neill at the heart of the defence in his two league matches in the dugout, after the USA international did not start a single league match for Rodgers this season.

With O’Neill’s future in the dugout in doubt, the Scottish giants are reportedly looking at another manager who could make Kenny unplayable for the rest of the season and beyond.

3-4-2-1 emerges as contender for Celtic job

According to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, Columbus Crew head coach Wilfried Nancy has “emerged” as a contender to replace Rodgers and O’Neil at Parkhead.

The reporter claims that he is one of a number of names on the club’s shortlist as they look for a long-term successor to Rodgers, who won the Premiership title in both of his full seasons back in Glasgow.

Joseph adds that the Hoops have now drawn up their full shortlist of options and that Nancy is a “serious” contender to land the job before the end of the international break.

The 48-year-old tactician, who typically deploys a 3-4-2-1 formation, is not the only manager on that list, of course, as Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Bodo/Glimt’s Kjetil Knutsen are also in the frame.

If Celtic decide to go through with a move for the French head coach, the Columbus Crew boss could help to make Kenny completely unplayable by carrying on O’Neill’s good work.

Nancy, who won the MLS Cup in the 2022/23 campaign, has won 81 of his 169 matches as a manager in the MLS, per Transfermarkt, and has won two trophies, one with Columbus Crew and one with Montreal, where he coached Alistair Johnston.

In his time with Columbus Crew, the French manager has shown that he can set up a team to consistently create chances for a striker like Kenny, as Diego Rossi has thrived under his management.

Like Kenny, the Uruguayan is a lean and diminutive forward who looks to score goals through clever movement and sharp finishing, as shown in his goal in the clip below.

Neither Rossi nor the Celtic striker are going to offer a towering presence in the number nine position and bully central defenders with their physical prowess; that is not a part of their game, but Nancy has shown that he can set a team up to create chances for their profile of forward.

Rossi has played through the middle as a striker on his own in a 3-4-2-1, as one of the two 10s behind a striker, and as part of a strike pairing in a 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2 during his time under the Celtic manager target, and he has been a prolific scorer in those roles.

As you can see in the table above, the Columbus Crew forward has scored 40 goals for Nancy since the start of the 2024 campaign, whilst also providing 12 assists for his side in that time.

These statistics suggest that Kenny, who is a similar profile of player to Rossi, could thrive under the Frenchman if Celtic decide to appoint him as their successor to Rodgers.

The Ireland international could thrive as the lone striker in a 3-4-2-1 on his own or alongside Iheanacho, when fit, in a 4-4-2, with his recent goal spurt showing that he can score goals on a regular basis at Premiership level.

وتستضيف كل من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، كندا والمكسيك نهائيات النسخة المقبلة من بطولة كأس العالم، في الفترة بين 11 يونيو و19 يوليو.

وتُعد تلك هي النسخة الأولى من بطولة كأس العالم، بعد استحداث نظامها، حيث سيشارك فيها 48 منتخبًا، سيتم تقسيمهم على 12 مجموعة، ويتأهل متصدر ووصيف كل مجموعة إلى دور الـ32، بالإضافة إلى أفضل 8 منتخبات في مركز ثالث.

وشهدت القرعة تواجد كل من: بلجيكا، مصر، إيران ونيوزيلندا في المجموعة السابعة في بطولة كأس العالم الصيف المقبل (لمطالعة التفاصيل كاملة عن القرعة من هنا).

من جهة أخرى، قالت صحيفة “sudinfo” البلجيكية: “قبل ستة أشهر من انطلاق كأس العالم، اكتشف الشياطين الحمر منافسيهم في دور المجموعات، ولا شك أن المدرب رودي جارسيا سيكون سعيدًا نسبيًا بترتيب فريقه في المجموعة السابعة إلى جانب إيران ومصر ونيوزيلندا”.

Pep Guardiola clearly had a lot of faith in some of his back-up options heading into the Champions League tie against Bayer Leverkusen, having made ten changes to his starting XI, but his side came up short in a 2-0 defeat.

The Spaniard has since admitted he probably made too many alterations, saying: “I always had the belief of the long season and everyone had to be involved but maybe it was too much. They played not to make mistakes instead of doing what we had to do.

“It was not the performance that we thought. I take full responsibility. We missed something. We missed an incredible opportunity and now we need to fight in the next games.”

Despite limiting the German side to an xG of just 0.51, the Blues conceded two goals for the second game on the spin, and having kept one clean sheet in their last seven games, they have now joined the race for a new defender.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which states Man City have now made contact over a deal for versatile AS Roma defender Zeki Celik, who is able to play as a wing-back, full-back and at centre-back.

Celik could be available for a bargain fee in the January transfer window, given that his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but if the Italian club are unwilling to sanction a departure, City could wait to snap him up on a free next summer.

"Perfect player" Celik impressing for club and country

The 58-cap Turkey international was recently lauded by national team manager Vincenzo Montella, who said: “He’s the perfect player for any coach,”

“Celik is professional, reliable, does his job wherever you play him. In a locker room it is always needed to have guys like him.”

The 28-year-old has also put in some impressive performances for AS Roma as of late, recently scoring and recording a 95% pass-completion rate in his side’s 2-0 victory over Udinese, with the latter statistic indicating he could be ideal in a Pep system.

As such, Celik could be a solid addition to the Man City squad, particularly on a free transfer, with Guardiola clearly keen on bolstering his options at full-back, given that a Bundesliga star has also been identified as a potential target…
