Arsenal have now reportedly held talks to sign a new defender next summer as they look to rejig their defence under Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners continue to look to upgrade in defence as they look for a first Premier League title under Mikel Arteta. Injuries to Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu have seen Arsenal struggle at right-back so far this season, with Thomas Partey being asked to fill in there at times alongside Jurrien Timber.

At centre-back, there remains concern over Jakub Kiwior, with the Polish defender having been strongly linked with a return to Serie A several times since his arrival at the club just two years ago.

The arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City ousted Kieran Tierney, before the Ukrainian himself was sidelined by the arrivals of first Timber and then Riccardo Calafiori, both of whom can play across the backline.

Now, it has emerged that Kieran Tierney looks set to leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season and has been linked with a return to Celtic. Zinchenko could also follow him out of the door with the left-back having started just two Premier League games this season.

As a result, the Gunners could be on the hunt for a new left-back and may have found a low-cost option to bolster their ranks.

That comes according to CaughtOffside, who report that Arsenal have held talks with Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell over a potential move across London to the Emirates Stadium.

The left-back, who content creator and Palace fan HLTCO dubbed “magnificent”, is hot property this season after a strong start to the season at Selhurst Park, having been an ever-present in Oliver Glasner’s side.

Though there is some confusion over his contract status, it is reported by both Transfermarkt and Capology that he is in the final six months of his current £40,000-a-week deal with the Eagles, which means that he could be free to leave for nothing in six months’ time.

He can enter into talks with interested parties around Europe from January 1st, though Premier League clubs cannot formally approach him until the end of the season.

Despite this, it is claimed that the Englishman is “attracting the attention of Europe’s leading clubs” including the Gunners, Tottenham and Barcelona. For their part, Arsenal “have held talks with him” over a potential move to north London, as they look to find a more defensively sound fullback for Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners already have both Calafiori and Timber as options at left-back, but with both proving versatile they could add another fullback and still have enough game time to keep all three happy. A low-cost opportunity, a move for the vastly experienced Mitchell could prove too good to turn down for the north London side.

Conforme a partida acontecia, o São Paulo conseguia chegar com mais perigo à meta do Athletico. Numa dessas escapadas, aos 18, Rafinha recebeu na ponta direita e cruzou. Éder furou o cabeceio, mas Khellven errou na hora de afastar. A bola sobrou para Calleri tocar na saída do goleiro e fazer 1 a 0.

Pouco tempo depois, com 21, Eder recebeu lindo passe de Igor Gomes, de letra e bateu de fora da área. Bento voou e fez um milagre.

Manchester United have made another approach to sign a fresh face to bolster their midfield ranks as they look to turn their poor form under Ruben Amorim around, according to a new report.

Despite the arrival of Amorim in November, things have not improved for United so far this season. Though they battled to a 2-2 draw with Premier League leaders Liverpool in their most recent outing, the point stretched their winless run to five games, having lost the previous four.

It also means that Amorim has won just two of his opening nine Premier League games, and he opened the door to potential relegation with his side currently just nine points clear of the drop zone in 13th place, the lowest they have ever been at this stage of a campaign.

One of the biggest problems has been in central midfield, where both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are the wrong side of their peak and lack the energy required for Amorim’s high-press 3-4-2-1 system.

The pairing of Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte appears to provide a solution to this, with the younger duo working well in tandem against Liverpool and Mainoo’s introduction proving a key turning point in the defeat to Newcastle the game before. However, the club undoubtedly needs more investment in that area, and now they could have identified their man.

That comes as a fresh report from TEAMtalk claims that Manchester United have once again asked Wolves for details over a potential move to sign Joao Gomes in the upcoming transfer windows.

However, any deal is unlikely to happen this winter, with the report claiming that Wolves are “not open to considering selling him this transfer window” save for “a huge offer”, something that Manchester United are unlikely to be able to put together given their well-documented financial issues.

It’s more the slider that’s her biggest weapon and the one she does try to rip is also really effective.”Australia have two matches of the tri-series remaining before they travel across to Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games and so far, due to the rained-out game and a nine-wicket win, only three batters have had time in the middle but Gardner is relaxed if she does get a hit in the coming days.”If we keep our batting order the same to what we usually use I think that will be most beneficial to get those people plenty of time in the middle and then really utilise training to get the other batters a hit,” she said. “We have to face all our bowlers in the nets, so think that is a challenge in itself. If we do get a hit over these next two games, great, but if not we’ve got some really good facilities and great bowlers and coaches.”

Arsenal made a very public attempt to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig last summer, so their pursuit of a forward isn’t anything new. However, Jesus’ injury has now left Arteta with just Kai Havertz as his sole striking option – making the need for another body all the more urgent.

Arsenal could make another move for Sesko this month, according to various reports, while it is rumoured the likes of Juventus star Dušan Vlahović, Sporting Lisbon sensation Viktor Gyokeres and Wolves sensation Matheus Cunha are all being targeted by the Premier League title hopefuls.

Given the sheer quality of these names, it comes as no surprise they’re all likely to command a premium transfer fee. Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs even reported earlier this week that Cunha is valued at around £80 million by Wolves, so Arsenal would need to make him their second-most expensive signing behind Declan Rice.

That being said, Arsenal do have their eyes on another Brazilian striker who could prove far cheaper – Botafogo ace Igor Jesus.

Arsenal approach Igor Jesus with Botafogo open to January sale

As per Jacobs again, in a piece for TEAMtalk, Arsenal have approached Jesus’ agents for initial talks, and it is believed Botafogo are prepared to sell him this month during the Brasileiro off-season.

The 23-year-old, who earned his first caps for the Brazil national team late last year, was prolific in the UAE with Shabab Al-Ahli – having scored 34 goals and bagging an extra 16 assists in all competitions.

He’s impressed since joining Botafogo from the Middle Eastern side, and his performances have attracted attention from Arsenal as they seek to bolster their forward options.

What’s more, Botafogo could sell for as little as £25 million, making him a far more astute potential signing than the vast majority of Arteta’s reported targets. Diario As reporter Eduardo Burgos also shared news that Arsenal have joined the race for Jesus, so this is a story gaining traction and one to certainly keep an eye on.
