The Dutchman was in the right place at the perfect time to convert Bruno Fernandes’ inch-perfect cross just two minutes after Archer’s penalty miss.
The game was then United’s to lose and they soon took a firm grip on proceedings, coasting to all three points courtesy of goals from Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho either side of a reckless red card for a disappointed Jack Stephens.

Whether it’s Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Alan Shearer, Matt Le Tissier or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Southampton’s academy has become famous for producing gems and Dibling may well be about to join what is an incredibly impressive list.
Just 18 years old, the winger didn’t look out of place for one second as he continuously charged at Dalot, who quickly found himself out of ideas as to how to stop the teenager. Earning plenty of praise as a result, Statman Dave dubbed Dibling “the next best thing” when speaking about his exciting full debut in the Premier League.
A bright spark as Southampton suffered yet another defeat – their fourth in as many games – Dibling’s standout display may well be a sign of things to come. Whilst the Saints are currently crashing back towards the Championship, the 18-year-old’s future should very much be in the Premier League, such is his clear talent.
For now, however, his focus will be on keeping Southampton afloat and following in a long line of academy graduates to have achieved ultimate success after breaking through the ranks at St Mary’s.

It was also New Zealand’s first Test series victory in England since 1999.But while Root accepted it had been a “disappointing performance” from his side, he insisted it would “be the wrong time to start panicking and trying to rip up all the hard work we’ve done for such a long period of time.””It’s been a frustrating and disappointing performance this week,” Root said. “I don’t think we’ve given a fair account of ourselves. We’ve been outplayed in all three departments, particularly the batting.”We didn’t get the runs [we should have done] in the first innings. We missed chances in the field and didn’t help our bowlers in that respect. And with the bat [in the second innings] we were poor.”Sometimes in Test cricket you can have a poor session with the ball and you’re still very much in the game. But a session that like can cost you a Test. That’s where we find ourselves. It’s cost us the series and we have some hard lessons to learn.”We have to look at where we can get better individually and collectively. We need to be honest about that. England’s batting was clearly their biggest issue. James Bracey (with eight runs in three innings), Zak Crawley (with 21 runs in four innings), Ollie Pope (with a top score of 23) and Root himself (who did not pass 42) all struggled despite generally benign batting conditions.But while Root accepted improvements were necessary, he defended the techniques of his players and suggested England must not abandon the investment they had put into these players ahead of major series against India and Australia. And he took responsibility for failing to lead from the front in a young batting line-up.”We have to front up, look to get better and learn some hard lessons sometimes,” he said. “We’ve all underperformed this week.”But we have to be constructive. I think every single one of those guys has proven they can score big Test runs. I think it would be the wrong time to start panicking and trying to rip up all the hard work we’ve done for such a long period of time. It’s something that historically we’ve done going into big tournaments and big Test series and it’s made things even worse.”There’s a huge desire to keep getting better as a team. We know there’s talent and ability in the group. Sometimes you really learn about a group of players, going through a difficult period like this. We have had a poor week, a poor series, and have got to front up to that. But it doesn’t make them bad players.”There’s been a lot of talk about technique and batting. My view is batting is very much an individual thing. There’s no right or wrong way of doing it. Look at the best players in the world: they all have different methods of how they play. How they stand, their bat paths, where they score their runs.”For me it’s more of a metal thing. It’s about clarity in their own game and managing passages of play. Managing different bowlers, different angles and conditions and doing that consistently well over an innings and a series. We can be a little bit smarter on occasions. It’s somewhere that throughout my career I’ve got that horribly wrong on occasions.”As the leading run-scorer within our squad currently I feel like I’ve put a lot of pressure on those guys by not performing myself. As a captain you pride yourself on getting big runs and leading from the front and I’ve not managed to follow through on that. So I’ve probably compounded that situation slightly.”Despite his disappointment, Root refused to blame any sense that his side had been discombobulated by the furore around historic social media posts in the run-up to the game or the absence of those players who had appeared in the IPL”That [the social media issue] would be a bit of an excuse, to be honest,” Root said. “I actually think that once the game came round and the training days came round, we managed to focus solely on the cricket. I don’t think that’s dripped into the way we played.”As we have spoken about so many times, we find ourselves in these Covid times and things aren’t perfect. They are not ideal. Yes, the whole thing is frustrating from time to time. You want your best players available for every Test. At the minute that’s not quite a possibility. That’s part and parcel of the world we live in right now. The sooner it can get back to normal the better for a number of reasons.”We’ve five more Tests to come this summer and I’d like to think for those Tests we’d have our first XI if all fit. كسر البلجيكي رادجا ناينجولان الصمت، بعد اعتقاله بسبب اتهامه بالاتجار في المخدرات منذ أسابيع قليلة، بعد أيام قليلة من انضمامه إلى لوكيرن تيمس.
في يناير الماضي، أكدت صحيفة “كوريري ديلا سير” الإيطالية، أن ناينجولان تم القبض عليه من قبل الشرطة، ويتم التحقيق معه بشأن ارتباطه المحتمل بعصابة تهريب المخدرات من أمريكا الجنوبية إلى أوروبا، قبل أن يتم إطلاق سراحه.
وحسب التقارير، تمت مداهمة 30 منزلًا في محيط أنتويرب والعاصمة بروكسل، كجزء من الخطة التي وضعتها السلطات للسيطرة على تشكيل عصابي لتهريب المخدرات، وخلال التحقيقات تم سحب سيارة ناينجولان، واحتجاز اللاعب.

وأضاف: “لم يسألوني أي أسئلة تتعلق بالمخدرات، ولكنهم أرادوا فقط معرفة نوع العلاقة التي تربطني بهذا الشخص المتهم الرئيسي في القضية”.
واختتم: “السجن تجربة غريبة جدًا، ولا أرغب في عيشها مرة أخرى، لقد تم تقديمي على أنني تاجر مخدرات، وأنا لا أعرف أي شيء عما كانوا يتحدثون عنه”.

Nick Gubbins, the Middlesex top-order batter, is close to completing a move to Hampshire which will see him join the club on loan for the rest of the season as a precursor to a permanent deal.Gubbins, 27, was Middlesex’s leading scorer in their County Championship-winning season in 2016 with 1,409 first-division runs at 61.26 including four hundreds. He has been part of several England Lions squads across formats in the years since, but struggled to score consistently in red-ball cricket, averaging 24.15, 34.41 and 22.08 in the three Championship seasons between 2017 and 2019.His form has improved in the last two years, with a first-class average of 37.56 since the start of last summer’s Bob Willis Trophy, and he made a brilliant fourth-innings 124 against Surrey at The Oval in May from No. 3. But with his contract up at the end of the season, he has decided to turn down an extension at Middlesex and join Hampshire instead.Gubbins has made three appearances in the T20 Blast this season but dropped out of the squad for Friday night’s game against Somerset, and it is anticipated that his move will be confirmed in the coming days, with a loan for the rest of the season preceding a multi-year contract. Middlesex are also expected to confirm extensions for a handful of out-of-contract players in the next few weeks.Gubbins will be Hampshire’s replacement for Sam Northeast, who, as revealed by the on Friday, is set to leave the club despite signing a contract at the start of this season that was due to run until the end of 2022. Northeast will initially move to Yorkshire, who are missing several senior batters on England duty or to injury, on a short-term loan deal.Northeast, considered by some to be the best uncapped batter in the country, joined Hampshire from Kent ahead of the 2018 season and has performed solidly, averaging 36.92 in first-class cricket and 51.62 in List A cricket. His torrid second spell with the Blues would end this summer, joining Napoli in a £30m deal – reuniting him with former boss Antonio Conte, resulting in the club losing a staggering £67.5m in just a three-year period.

The transfer was a disaster all round, with his lack of goals coupled with his off-field antics tarnishing his time at the club despite the excitement around his return in 2021.
Lukaku’s big-money transfer would be made even more frustrating, especially considering the club were targeting another European talent before making the move for the Belgian that summer.

The 24-year-old, who’s now valued at £152m as per Transfermarkt, has taken his career to the next level after his Premier League move, scoring 99 times in 103 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, breaking the record for the most goals in a 38-game league season back in 2022/23.

He helped propel the club to their first-ever Champions League title in the same season, winning the treble in a truly remarkable campaign for City.
Haaland’s incredible goal record would have massively improved the Blues squad and aided their attempts to secure a first league title in eight years – but instead, they’re left looking down the barrel of their woeful investment in Lukaku.
